Troop 1066 of Jefferson Maryland was formed in 1974 under the sponsorship of the Jefferson Ruritan Club. Our Scouts (boys age 11 to 17) come from and serve Jefferson, Adamstown, Brunswick, Middletown, Knoxville, Burkittsville and Frederick. The Scouting program offers middle and high school youth outdoor adventures aimed at developing leadership, citizenship and fitness.
Troop 1066 provides an especially active outdoor program, with a 21-year-long streak of monthly campouts and more than 50 outing-days each year. We are located 10 minutes from the Appalachian Trail, C&O Canal and Potomac River, and central to the Civil War Battlefields at Antietam, Manassas, and Gettysburg.
A Scout-lead program regularly takes advantage of these and other opportunities for camping, hiking, backpacking, cycling, canoeing and service projects. Each summer a Troop Trek challenges Scouts to cover 50 to 200 miles of scenic waterway or trail by canoe or bicycle. Troop 1066 maintains a 4-year rotation of BSA high adventure bases: Philmont, SeaBase, Summit & Northern Tier.
We gather on Mondays from 7-8:30pm on FCPS school nights at the Jefferson Ruritan Center beside the firehouse at 4603 B Lander Road in Jefferson 21755. Contact Scoutmaster Garman: |
